Workshop Introduction
The workshop “Data Protection in Sports” is designed and delivered by recognized experts in the field. Sports organizations face constant challenges with data protection issues, which are particularly critical in the sports sector. This workshop provides best practices for effectively managing data protection, making it suitable for anyone working in the sports industry – including sports administrators, club presidents, directors and managers, legal advisors, medical staff, IT and data management professionals, and professionals involved in organizing sports events, among others.
This workshop provides sports organizations with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of data protection. Participants will learn practical strategies to secure personal data, ensure compliance with legal standards, and create a culture of data protection within their organizations.
Accreditation & Certification
The Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland (ALSS) is an international education institution that offers continuing education, further education, and post graduate advanced education courses, workshops and programs focusing on advanced studies in Leadership and Management. In addition, ALSS provides short courses and workshops that are non-credit-bearing and do not lead to formal qualifications. Participants who attend the full workshop Data Protection in Sports will receive a certificate of successful attendance issued by ALSS.

- Admission Requirements : Anyone who is, or aspires to get, involved in the industry of sports can enroll for this course.
- Tutorial fees for the whole workshop : The workshop fee varies depending on the format (in-person or online). Sports federations with a partnership with ALSS receive a 25% discount.
- Internet access and an email address are required.

Agim Çitaku, LL.M.
Workshop Presenter
Agim Citaku is a lawyer and the founder of Citaku & Partners, with more than ten years of experience in international sports law. He is also the director of the Institute for Sports Law at the Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland. Mr. Citaku advises and represents clubs and associations, as well as athletes from all sports, in both amateur and competitive sports, in matters of sports law, especially in the areas of sports contract law and club or association law. His particular focus is on legal issues surrounding football transfers. Agim also advises athletes, clubs, and associations in the area of data protection as a Data Protection Officer.
Léa Gonzalez

Lea Gonzales is a seasoned professional in sports law and data protection, with a career shaped by her experiences at Real Madrid and the Spanish Anti-Doping Agency. Serving as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) at the Anti-Doping Agency for three years, Lea honed her expertise in managing sensitive data within the sports industry. Currently, she works at the Spanish Athletics Federation, where she oversees data protection, anti-doping regulations, and the management of elite athletes
Kristy Gale
Workshop Presenter
Kristy Gale is a sports technology and data rights management law pioneer, educator, and entrepreneur specializing in athlete biometric and tracking data rights management. Her goal is to build trust, integrity, and equity into the athlete data ecosystem. She is the CEO of HONOR Data Rights Management, a technology company providing solutions for data governance, compliance, and revenue maximization. Kristy helps organizations identify their data rights management goals and develop strategies to reach them through consulting firm Sports Data Strategies. Kristy serves as Director of the Institute for Biometric Data Optimization and Protection (IBDOP), an organization that provides stakeholders an opportunity to collaborate on ethics, best practices, and proposed legislation relating to data rightsvarious topics.

Eleanor Stocker is a distinguished professional in the field of sports law, currently serving as a Case Manager and Data Protection Officer at Sport Resolutions. With an extensive background in International Sports Law, Eleanor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having developed a deep understanding of the legal challenges faced by elite sporting organisations. Eleanor’s hands-on experience in the football industry, combined with her expertise in data protection and compliance, has made her a sough-after expert in the field.
Christopher Flanagan
Workshop Presenter
Christopher is a legal and risk management professional with significant experience in sport and regulated industry. He is also a legal academic with multiple publications in textbooks and academic journals covering, among other things, data protection in sport. His prior engagements include acting as the Data Protection Officer at a global entertainment business whose portfolio included ticketing services and the promotion of major sporting events. Christopher also has board level experience at an English National League football club.
