Introduction to sports law (Belgium)
Course Introduction
This four-week course offers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to Sports Law, with a particular focus on the legal landscape in Belgium and the European Union. Designed and delivered by leading experts in the field, the course reflects ALSS’s commitment to high-quality, practice-oriented legal education tailored to the needs of the sports industry.
Open to participants from all professional backgrounds, no prior legal training is required. Whether you are a sports administrator, lawyer, athlete (current or former), sports official, or anyone interested in the legal foundations of sport, this course provides valuable insights and practical knowledge relevant to both national and international contexts.
Course Content
The course covers specific topics on sport-related issues including the national and international regulation of sport, sport governing bodies, national law directly applicable to sport, contracts, sports agents/intermediaries, dispute resolution (with a focus on Belgium), and the role of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Additional topics include the employment status of athletes, football transfers and agents, the autonomy and specificity of sport, the application of EU law to sport (free movement and competition law), as well as key integrity-related issues such as match-fixing, anti-money laundering (including the EU and Belgian AML frameworks), and anti-doping regulations under the World Anti-Doping Code and WADA.

- Duration of the Course: 4 weeks (every Tuesday evenings 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM )
- Language: English
- Start Date: 30 September 2025
- Study Options: 100 % online per Zoom
- Tutorial fees: for the whole course CHF 590 to be paid at least one week before the course starts.
- Admission Requirements Anyone who is, or aspires to get, involved in the industry of sports can enrol for this course.
- Internet access and an email address are required.

Week 4: Integrity in sport
-Match-fixing
-Anti-Money Laundering: the EU AML Directive and the Belgian AML law
-WADA, the World Anti-Doping Code and its application

The Academy of Leadership Sciences Switzerland (ALSS) is an international education institution that offers continuing education, further education, and post graduate advanced education courses, workshops and programs focusing on advanced studies in Leadership and Management.
