Prof. Marion Keim is the UNESCO Chair of Sport, Development and Peace and Olympic Education. Her teaching and research areas include Olympic education, leadership, sport and community development, conflict transformation, multiculturalism youth development and sport as a means for inclusion and peace building. She is a founder of the Western Cape Network for Community Peace and Development which she chaired 2005-2014 and since 2013 the Chairperson of the Foundation for Sport, Development and Peace. She is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and is certified in Mediation and Sports Law. Prof, Marion has coordinated numerous national and international sport and development projects. She served as member of the National Advisory Committee for Sport and Recreation and of the Eminent Person’s Group for Sport and Transformation for the South African Minister of Sport and Recreation 2012-2023. In 2014 she was appointed to the IOC Commission for Culture and Olympic Education on which she still serves. In 2024 she was appointed Secretary General of the Association of National Pierre de Coubertin Committees of Africa and she serves as President of the South African Pierre de Coubertin Committee. She is the author, co-author, compiler and editor of more than 30 books, serves on numerous international editorial and research boards and lectures internationally.
